Newsletter Signup
MarketingA minimal, high-conversion form for building an email subscriber list.
3 input fields · Conversational mode
When to use this template
A newsletter signup form has one job: turn a curious visitor into a subscriber before their attention drifts. Every extra field is a tax on conversion. This template is deliberately stripped down to the two fields that matter — first name (for personalization) and email (the actual ask) — plus an optional topic-of-interest checkbox that powers smarter segmentation if you want it. It runs in conversational mode so a single question fills the screen at a time, which on mobile drives noticeably higher completion than a packed traditional form. The thank-you message points subscribers to the inbox to confirm, which sets the expectation for double opt-in flows that most ESPs (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Beehiiv) require for clean deliverability.

Customization tips
- Strip the first-name field if you only need email — every removed field lifts conversion 2-5%
- Replace the generic interest checkboxes with your actual newsletter topics so segmentation is real
- Wire the form to a webhook that appends to your ESP with the appropriate tag based on interests
- Add a free lead magnet (PDF, checklist, mini-course) and reference it in the heading to boost signup intent
- A/B test conversational vs traditional mode for your audience — desktop B2B often converts better in traditional
Frequently asked questions
How do I connect this to Mailchimp or ConvertKit?
Send submissions to a webhook endpoint your ESP provides, or pipe through a tool like Zapier, Make, or n8n. FormGen webhooks are HMAC-signed so you can verify authenticity on the receiving end.
Do I need a privacy notice on this form?
For GDPR and CAN-SPAM compliance, yes. Add a paragraph block or short legal text linking to your privacy policy, and consider a checkbox for explicit opt-in if you operate in the EU. Implicit consent (a pre-checked box) is no longer compliant under GDPR.
Why is conversational mode the default here?
Mobile traffic dominates newsletter signups (especially from social), and conversational forms convert measurably better on small screens. On desktop the difference is smaller, so for desktop-heavy audiences traditional mode is fine.
